Limited Editions

There is a sense in which all our ceramics are 'limited editions'. We do not manufacture on a huge scale, all designs are retired at some stage, and we also take pride in the variations in colour and style that come from the brushes of our different artists.

However some of our ceramics are specifically produced in Numbered Limited Editions to a pre-determined quantity. When the last ceramic is seen safely through the kiln the Master mould is destroyed, so that no more can be produced. Since 1997 all numbered editions have had a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Lock & Co Limited Edition

Limited Edition 500

Locks the Hatters have been serving the Military, Royalty and Celebrity since 1630 in St. James - from Nelson to Johnny Depp. They are renowned for their continuing customer service. In the 19thC they were instrumental in developing the Bowler Hat.

Hand painted window with hats, 22ct gold on fascia, numbered & certificated.

Floris

“Floris, the Perfumers have been operating at 89 Jermyn Street since 1730. A delightful building & one of the many in Jermyn St that Hazle would like to model. Note the gold & copper highlights. The interior contains some magnificent Spanish Mahogany Showcases from the Great Exhibition of 1851.

Established by a Portuguese Perfumer,, one of the quirkier things that happened in the shop, was the “laundering” of money. Because ladies of the period often wore long elegant gloves & money was quite dirty, Floris used to take the money they received from customers & wash & iron it. Change would be given to the customers on a velvet tray, still used today!! With service like this no wonder they hold Royal Warrants!! The building is directly opposite Prince Arcade, where you will find John English Gifts, one of our premier stockists & the shop where you can purchase this piece (as well as off the website) It is one of the smallest Limited Editions we have ever run.

Limited Edition of 500 only

Village Antiques

This late 1700s building from Uppingham was one of the first to be “listed”. On the early 1800s frontage the modelled and added items are just for this Limited Mould. Among the bric-à-brac, including an old vacuum cleaner and upturned wash tub, are some Art Nouveau pieces. An authentic period lamp leans against Blind Alley, with a distant figure in the back yard.

Limited to 250

Alf Roberts Grocer - Mrs Thatchers Birthplace LE

Large: Height approx 8 5/8" Limited Edition of 1000

Alf Robert, Alderman and Mayor of Grantham ran a Grocery store and Post Office on the corner of North Parade and Broad Street for over 30 years in the 1920s to 1950s. He and his wife Beatrice had two daughters, the second of whom became Britain's first woman Prime Minister.

OXFAM Original

This ceramic is based on the very first permanent charity shop in the UK which was the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief, Broad Street, Oxford. Begun in 1942, in response to hearing about the people dying in the streets in Greece due to the blockade by the Allies. At the end of the war they continued to raise money for "the relief of suffering arising from the results of wars and other causes in any part of the world" and opened the first permanent charity shop in the UK in 1948 in Broad Street, which is still there today. This Limited Edition of 2000, will differ from the other "Hazle 2000" pieces in that there will be 2 versions within the 2000 editions. The second version (not shown) will be more up-to-date in colour, logo and types of items recently to be found in an Oxfam window - and a black plastic bag or two.

Hazle Ceramics will donate £5 from the sale of each ceramic to Oxfam.

The Shell Corner Garage

Our 1950's building in Birmingham is the perfect foil for the earlier Corner Grocer which is now retired. It was the kind of place where you could find every sort of part for your car as well as fill up with petrol.

The old fashioned pumps and 'assistant service' are a million miles away from our moden petrol stations. But in those days driving was a greater pleasure on Britain's quiet roads.
